Jobs and Skills

How can the restoration of the Palace of Westminster create jobs and develop skills in your community and across the UK?

During June and July 2021 we asked for your views and ideas about how we can support training and apprenticeships in your area, and for ideas on how we can ensure that across our supply chains we are recruiting a diverse range of people.

The views and ideas shared will help to inform the detailed and costed restoration and renewal plan. You can look at what people said below. You can also sign up for information on further activities that will follow in due course.

More information

Parliament has decided that the Palace of Westminster will remain its permanent home, after the restoration project is complete. We are working on the detailed restoration plan which will be presented to Parliament for its decision. We want to take your views into account as we develop this plan.

There will be lots of opportunities for people in many different types of jobs as we restore the Palace of Westminster. We want to make sure that people across the UK have the chance to learn new skills and get involved. We will be recruiting apprentices and interns from towns and communities across the country. Providing the plan to Parliament

1 January 2023 00:00 - 1 January 2024 00:00

In 2023 we will submit the detailed and costed restoration and renewal plan to both Houses of Parliament for their decision.

Alongside that, we will set out an account of how we sought people's views and ideas, what we heard, and how we used that information.
