Clearly if the emphasis is on sustainability a massive new building which involves masssive concrete and underground construction and which destroys a crucial public green space next tot he Palace of Westminster is a non-starter.
The Retro First campaign points out that Construction, demolition and excavation generates approximately 63% of UK waste and that retrofitting is the answer to making construction greener . There is NO justification on ustainability for the destruction of Victoria Tower Gardens, What is the total Carbon Footprint of the proposed intervention on that site?
