The Parliament complex should relocate to the enormous empty site once occupied by the Earls Court exhibition centre and which as yet has no detailed plans. It is a greenfield site in central London, unique and an opportunity that should be grasped.
Advantages:
a) As the space is a green field site, design will be easier, and construction can start earlier
a) The Commons chamber can be designed in shape and size to accommodate all MPs
b) There is ample space for all members to have individual suites (as in Washington DC), and for meeting rooms of all sizes.
c) There is ample room for parking on the site
d) Communications are excellent.
i) District line connects to Westminster in 15 minutes
ii) Piccadilly Line connects to London Heathrow in 30 minutes
iii) West London Line connects to London Gatwick and West Coast Main Line
iv) London Overground connects to West Hampstead for Midland Mainline.
v) Helicopters could be accommodated.
vi) Fast access to the M4 and M40.
d) The Palace of Westminster be gradually transformed into a public access multi-use facility
